Turismo de Portugal created a label to highlight tourist activities that ensure compliance with hygiene and cleaning requirements for the prevention and control of Covid-19 and other possible infections.
Tourist enterprises, tourist entertainment companies and travel agencies registered with Turismo de Portugal may request the declaration as “Clean & Safe” establishment, but to do so, they must ensure that they meet certain requirements. This certificate (Clean & Safe) can now be used not only by the tourist industry as such but by related businesses as well, such as golf courses, food and beverage establishments, rent-a-car businesses, and even interpreters/guides.
The “Clean & Safe” stamp can be obtained online thru the digital platforms of Turismo de Portugal: RNET (National Register of Tourist Enterprises), RNAAT (National Register of Tourist Entertainment Agents) and RNAVT (National Register of Travel and Tourism Agents) and will always be associated with the entity’s registration number.
This validation is free and optional and is valid for one year. It will require the implementation of an internal protocol that will ensure the necessary hygiene measures to avoid risks of contagion and guarantee safe procedures for the operation of tourist activities. Turismo de Portugal, in coordination with the competent entities, will carry out audits of establishments that join this “Clean&Safe” initiative.
With this measure, Turismo de Portugal intends to inform companies on the hygiene requirements and cleaning measures to ensure the safety of various establishments, according to the recommendations of the DGS – Directorate-General for Health, as well as promoting Portugal as a safe destination from the point of view of care with the spread of the Virus, reinforcing the confidence of those who visit the country.

Turismo de Portugal has launched the “Clean & Safe” platform, which gathers all information related to compliant establishments, such as where they are located and what requirements they must meet. It also allows for assessment by tourists themselves, letting everyone take responsibility for safer tourism by combating covid-19 together.
